This shy boy lost his dad to suicide and his home and doesn't understand why he's in the loud shelter.
He is a shepherd mix, believed to be around 5 years old and needs to find his forever family who he can love for the rest of his years! We know that he's not a fan of cats so he will need to be in a non-feline home or trained to know his boundaries.
Dakota is dog selective in the shelter BUT he went to an "outing" for a few days and this is what his foster dad had to say: He loves to ride in vehicles, knows verbal command "stay", climbs stairs with ease, becomes attached very easy and has to know where I am at all times, very tuned into his environment, loves to look out windows, walked a mile on the Katy Trail and doesn't like bicycles, has a unique approach to affection. He will come to where you are and sit down, while looking at you. Once you start to touch and talk to him, his tail will wag. It's like you have to get down to his level and then he's "all yours". He has this thing about wanting to put his nose close to your face while studying you. Met a couple of our neighbor's dogs, as they come to their house for milk bones and no issues".
He loves water and playing in his pool! Dakota came to the shelter in Jan.
